Tropical Flowers

Tropical flowers are the flowers that thrive naturally in tropical climates and are a favorite of flower lovers. What make them a favorite are their unique and stunning look and their rare fragrances. Some examples of more popular tropical flowers include Orchids, Rhizomes, Gingers, and Heliconias.

The tropics are the geographic region of the Earth centered on the equator and limited in latitude by the two tropics: the Tropic of Cancer, which is in the north, and the Tropic of Capricorn, which is in the southern hemisphere. Tropical flowers are the species of flower that are native and only grow naturally in theses areas. The areas where most flowers are collected are the Amazon Basin in Brazil, the Congo Basin in West Africa and Indonesia, the Hawaiian Islands, areas of India and southern China.

The longest lasting tropical flowers are Anthuriums, Dendrobium Orchids, and Oncidium Orchids. Anthuriums last up to two weeks if cared for properly. Dendrobium Orchids last from five to eight days and Oncidium Orchids last seven to ten days. Most will last about five days if cared for properly.
